Alphabetical or by-table wedding seating chart?

Both use the same seating plan. The difference is how your guests find their names.

Vowora practical guide · 8 November 2026

Alphabetical: start with the person

Guests look up their name in alphabetical order and read the table beside it. This can be useful for larger lists or when guests do not know who else is at their table. Keep the spelling consistent with your guest list.

By table: start with the group

Names appear under table headings, giving guests a view of their dining group. Use clear table labels and enough spacing to avoid making guests scan tightly packed names.

Keep name order predictable

Vowora’s alphabetical export sorts the display-name field as written. If you prefer surname-first lookup, use surname-first display names consistently. Review the final order with accented and international names.

You can make both

A large entrance display and a practical venue list can use different layouts from the same plan. Make sure all files come from the latest revision and label multi-page displays clearly.

Keep the lovely details together.
